Privacy
Global Open Wheel is an iRacing league run by volunteers. This page says what we hold about the people who race with us, why, who can see it, and how to have it removed. It covers this website, the league's Discord bot, and the league's broadcast software.
This website
There are no accounts, no forms, no cookies and no analytics. The web server keeps ordinary access logs, which include your IP address, for operating the site; they are not used for anything else and are not kept for long.
Drivers
Everything the league knows about a driver comes from the driver, through the Discord bot, when they join and register:
- your Discord user id and display name, from joining the server;
- your iRacing customer id and iRacing display name, when you link your account, so that results from iRacing can be matched to you;
- your car number, team, and which seasons you have registered for;
- which version of the sporting regulations you accepted, and when;
- race results imported from iRacing: finishing position, laps, incidents and penalties, and the championship standings derived from them;
- protests you file or are named in, and the stewards' decisions.
All of it exists to run the championship: to put you on the grid, score the season, and steward it. It is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone outside the league.
What is public
Results, standings, car numbers, driver names, team names and stewarding verdicts are the championship's record. They are published in the Discord server, may be published on this site, and appear on the league's live broadcasts and the recordings of them on YouTube and Twitch. Registering for a season is agreeing to that.
Your iRacing customer id and your Discord user id are never published anywhere. The broadcast uses the customer id for one thing only: to tell which registered driver is in which car during a session.
Removal
Ask in the Discord, and your registration, your linked iRacing account and your Discord record will be removed. Results that are already part of a completed season's published record stay in that record, because the standings of every other driver depend on them.
The broadcast software
The league broadcasts its own races with software it wrote, which signs into the league's own YouTube and Twitch channels to set the title, description and thumbnail of each live stream. That is the only thing it does with those sign-ins. It reads and changes nothing on any other account, it stores no viewer information, and its access tokens live on the league's broadcast computer, not on this site.
That software uses YouTube API Services. By watching or taking part in the league's YouTube broadcasts you are also subject to YouTube's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy. The league can revoke the software's access at any time from the Google account's third-party access settings and from Twitch's connections settings.
Other services
The league lives on Discord, races on iRacing and broadcasts on YouTube and Twitch. Each of those handles your data under its own policy, which we do not control.
